The Launch Window

Ship the product Friday, or delay for two more weeks?

It's Wednesday afternoon, and the conference-room table in front of you is a wreck of half-empty coffee cups and a laptop showing a burndown chart that has stopped going down. Through the glass wall you can see your team at their desks — heads low, shoulders tight, three of them still wearing yesterday's clothes.

In four hours you walk into a leadership review and give a one-word answer: ship or hold. There is no version of that meeting where 'it depends' is acceptable. You've been at this company long enough to know that this decision — not the code, not the design — is the thing they'll remember you for.

Your product lead sends a Slack that just says 'you good?' You are not, entirely, good. You have four hours.
